Many industrial components are made of metal. In most cases, these products need to be finished with a protective layer against climatic effects such as corrosion, and to provide a specific colour and gloss for the aesthetics.

Applications:
• Types of metal: iron, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminium, zamac (zinc, aluminium, magnesium, copper), etc.
• Products: car parts, truck parts, electrical appliances, frames, various metal constructions, etc.

One of the best techniques for providing these metal parts with a protective anti-corrosion layer is phosphating and electrocoating (see ELECTROCOATING).

For some products that are only functional and not directly visible, electrocoating is sufficient as a final layer. The majority of products, however, receive additional finishing with one or more layers of wetpainting (see WETPAINTING) or a layer of powder coating (see POWDER COATING).
